Parenting Project:
Communicate Effectively with Children
Parents are often unsure how to handle the various issues that arise with their children. In order for parents to complement the work that is being done in the classroom to help children, it is helpful for parents to learn how to speak about problems and problem behaviour with a child in a manner that not only maintains but also enhances self-esteem and confidence.
We teach parents how to speak to children about their child’s goals, problem areas and problematic behaviour by using elements of Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Together these models of understanding and changing human behaviour provide practical and useful methods for helping children succeed in all areas of their lives. Examples and instances will be shared with participants so that practical applications of the theory may be explored.
Provincial government funding may be available through the school system. Visit our Empowered Parent Workshops for more details and please do contact us.
