Cognitive Behavioural Theory
We find that this is a very powerful approach to use with clients who are looking to make lasting changes in their lives. Clients learn about the interesting interplay between thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physiology. Clients learn about how thought distortions help to perpetuate unwanted feelings and behaviours. By engaging in a self-reflective process, clients consider how their beliefs perpetuate a particular view of the world that keeps them feeling ‘stuck'. Specific activities are suggested so that clients challenge the manner in which they interpret events and experiences.
